A few weeks ago I decided to buy the Sigma 150-600mm f/5.6-6.3 Art lens as my 50th birthday present to myself. This lens is used for wildlife because you can reach out can get close to the animals without getting disturbing them. These are a few of the photo I recently took at ZooTampa and Lake Morton in Lakeland. More of my wildlife photos are found HERE.
For my 50th birthday my parents and I went to St Augustine, FL for a couple days. Right before my was about to leave, the focus motor in my Nikon D800E stopped working. I was going to have to send it in for repairs when I got back. That meant I could only take one camera body and I normally shoot with two (one with an ultra-wide angle lens and one with a telephoto lens). While in St Augustine I bumped into a door frame and broke my Nikon D800. The lens was OK but the eyepiece housing was ripped off. That was two camera bodies down in three days. Both my D800s are 7 years old so I decided to bite the bullet and buy a new 45.7MP Nikon D850. It is a great camera and I am learning to use it now. You should see more posts from me now as I test out the new camera and learn to use it now before I have to under pressure during an event. Check back periodically to see the new photos.
Every photographer needs to work on personal projects occasionally to keep them motivated. For a long time I have wanted to do a series of photos of churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship. Eventually I would like to make this into a book and put together a circulating exhibit to go along with it. As I work on this project over the next few years you can see the photos HERE.
